MIT OCW 6.002 Circuits and 2.001 Statics are the two courses every JC student thinking about NUS or NTU engineering should finish before applying — they're the rough level of the first-year modules, and finishing them flags you as intrinsically curious rather than 'interested because my parents told me'. For poly students already in EEE or mech, stack NUS CET short courses in your Y2 and Y3 gaps; they're credit-bearing at NUS if you direct-enter.
