About this opportunity

<p>The Cambridge Re:think Essay Competition is an annual international essay competition run by the Cambridge Centre for International Research (CCIR) for secondary-school students worldwide. Participants submit an essay of up to 2000 words responding to one of the year's prompts, contributed by academics from institutions including Harvard, Stanford, Cambridge, and Oxford.</p><ul><li>Open to students aged 11-18 who have not yet commenced undergraduate studies.</li><li>Two divisions in 2026: Junior Division (ages 11-13) and Senior Division (ages 14-18), each with its own prompts and awards.</li><li>Competition opens 15 January 2026; essay submission deadline 10 May 2026; results announced 26 May 2026.</li><li>Essays must be individual work, under 2000 words (excluding footnotes and bibliography), cited in MLA 8; all entries are screened for plagiarism and AI generation.</li><li>No entry fee.</li><li>Division awards per division: 10 Gold (US$150 cash + US$500 CCIR Academy scholarship), 10 Silver (US$100 + US$300), 10 Bronze (US$50 + US$200). Special Logos, Pathos, and Ethos prizes (1 each globally) carry US$150 cash + US$500 scholarship. Honourable Mention for the top ~10% of participants.</li></ul><p>Award winners are invited to the Award Ceremony and Dinner at King's College, University of Cambridge on 31 July 2026.</p>
