About this opportunity

<p>River of Words is a free annual international youth poetry and art contest run by the Center for Environmental Literacy at Saint Mary's College of California. Running since 1995, it invites young people worldwide to translate their observations of the watersheds where they live into original poems and artwork, combining place-based environmental education with the creative arts.</p><ul><li>Open to students aged 5–19 enrolled in school, split across four age categories (5–7, 8–11, 11–14, and 14–19).</li><li>Free to enter; entrants may submit up to 5 poems and 5 artworks.</li><li>Poems must not exceed 32 lines (or 3 minutes if signed) and are accepted in English or Spanish; art pieces must be mailed to the River of Words address in California.</li><li>Entries must be submitted through a parent, guardian, educator, or facilitator unless the student is 18 or older.</li><li>Winners and finalists are recognised annually and featured in ROW publications and exhibits.</li></ul><p>Full rules and submission instructions are published on the River of Words site.</p>
