<p>The Paper Planes category at the Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition (SAFMC) is a low-barrier introduction to flight for student teams. Organised by Science Centre Singapore with DSO National Laboratories, the challenge asks teams to design and fold paper planes that fly the longest, farthest, or most accurately.</p><ul><li>Teams of two to three members compete in the Paper Planes category; the current edition is aimed at primary-school teams.</li><li>The challenge is a single-day in-person event forming part of the annual SAFMC finals, typically held in February or March.</li><li>No special materials are required beyond paper stock and basic folding skill — a good first exposure to aerodynamics and design iteration.</li><li>Top teams receive trophies and national recognition at the SAFMC awards ceremony.</li><li>Registration for SAFMC 2026 is now closed; teams interested in SAFMC 2027 can join the mailing list via safmc@science.edu.sg.</li></ul>
