About this opportunity
Students research a food security issue in a country of their choice, write a three to five page Global Challenge paper, and present their findings and recommendations at a two-hour online session with global experts and other students. Participants are recognised as Borlaug Scholars, become eligible for an invitation to the Global Youth Institute in Iowa, and can win one of ten Global Challenge Awards, the top two worth USD 1,000.
Who can apply
Ninth through twelfth grade students anywhere in the world (in Singapore terms, roughly Sec 3 to JC 2). Guidance from a teacher or mentor is optional but encouraged.

Register and submit your Global Challenge paper through the forms on the page by 20 May 2027, 11:59pm US Central time, then present at one of four live online sessions on 2, 3, 9 or 10 June 2027.
