About this opportunity
<p>CDAC (Chinese Development Assistance Council) runs several subsidised education programmes for children and youth from lower-income Chinese Singaporean families, and recruits student and young-adult volunteers to tutor in mathematics and other subjects. The most relevant volunteer tracks for tertiary and older JC students are the Supervised Homework Group Programme, the 1-1 Buddy Tutoring scheme and Project YOUth Can Shine.</p><ul><li>Eligibility: volunteers aged 17 and above; GCE A-Level or tertiary qualifications preferred (slightly higher age minimum of 18 for 1-1 Buddy Tutoring, 21 for YOUth Can Shine)</li><li>Students supported: Primary 4–6 and Secondary 1–2 in mathematics (also English, Science, Chinese)</li><li>Commitment: typically a weekly session during term-time — 1.5 hours (1-1 Buddy) up to 3 hours every Saturday (SHG, YOUth Can Shine), running across the school year</li><li>Format: in-person small-group or 1-1 tutoring at CDAC learning centres</li></ul><p>Volunteers apply via the CDAC volunteer registration portal linked on the Supporting Children and Youth page.</p>
