<p>The International Biology Olympiad (IBO) is the world's leading biology competition for secondary-school students, held each year in a different host country. The 37th edition, IBO 2026, takes place in Vilnius, Lithuania, and is hosted at Vilnius University, bringing together national teams from around the world for theoretical and practical exams across all core biology disciplines.</p><ul><li>Eligibility: students under 20 who are not yet enrolled at university; Singapore participants are selected through the Singapore Biology Olympiad (SBO)</li><li>Team structure: each country sends up to four students</li><li>Dates: 12–19 July 2026, in Vilnius, Lithuania</li><li>Format: theoretical and laboratory practical exams, plus cultural and social programming alongside delegates from 60+ countries</li><li>Content: cell biology, anatomy and physiology, genetics and evolution, ethology, ecology, and biosystematics</li><li>Outcomes: Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals awarded to individual participants based on performance</li></ul><p>Students interested in representing Singapore should pursue the Singapore Biology Olympiad, as IBO places are selected from top national-round performers rather than through direct individual registration.</p>
