About this opportunity
A research-paper award rather than an exam. Teams of one to three students from the same school pick their own question in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer science or economic and financial modelling, submit a two-page research outline and then a full research report, and shortlisted teams defend the work orally before a panel of academics in Hong Kong.
Who can apply
Current secondary school students in Hong Kong and the Asian region outside Mainland China, which includes Singapore. Teams of 1-3 students from the same school, each with one supervising teacher from a school or college. Paid help from commercial training or tuition institutions is not allowed.
How to apply
Register online on the Asia site, email the 2-page English research outline quoting your registration number, then email the full research report with an AI-usage disclosure and signed academic integrity commitment. Shortlisted teams are invited to the oral defence. Registration for the 2026 round ran from February to 11 June 2026, and the 2027 round has not been announced yet.
