<p>The Peer Support Leaders (PSL) Programme is a Ministry of Education initiative that trains selected students in Singapore schools and Institutes of Higher Learning to support the well-being of their peers. PSLs act as a first line of peer support, helping classmates cope with stress, resolve conflicts, and seek help from teachers or counsellors when needed.</p><ul><li>Available in all Singapore schools and IHLs; about five per cent of each cohort are trained as PSLs</li><li>Focus areas: peer bonding, peer helping, and peer influencing</li><li>Training covers active listening, empathy, conflict management, positive coping, and basic mental health literacy</li><li>PSLs are supported by teachers, school staff, and counsellors who check in with them regularly</li><li>Schools and IHLs partner with the Health Promotion Board and community partners to reinforce the programme</li></ul><p>Students are nominated by classmates or endorsed by teachers; selection and appointment happen within each school.</p>
