About this opportunity

<p>The Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO) Open Section is the most demanding tier of the SMO, open to all secondary and JC students in Singapore. It is the primary selection pathway into Singapore's International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) training squad.</p><ul><li>Open to full-time students from Sec 1 through JC2 who have not started tertiary education</li><li>Round 1 is a 2.5-hour paper of short-answer questions</li><li>Invited top performers advance to Round 2, a 4-hour written paper requiring full-length solutions</li><li>Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Honourable Mention certificates awarded; cash prizes for the top 30 in Round 2, with the Singapore Mathematical Society Prize for the Open winner</li><li>Results feed into SIMO national training selection for the IMO team</li><li>2026 dates: Round 1 on 4 June (0930-1200); Round 2 on 4 July (0900-1300)</li></ul><p>Registration is submitted through participating schools. Fees are S$10 per student from SMS institutional member schools and S$12 from non-member schools.</p>
