<p>The YMCA Plain English Speaking Awards (PESA) is an annual national speech contest organised by YMCA of Singapore in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Speak Good English Movement. First held in 1986, it recognises students who can communicate ideas clearly, confidently, and effectively in standard English, and now runs in its 37th edition.</p><ul><li>Participants deliver structured speeches on chosen topics and respond to impromptu questions, judged on fluency, grammar, vocabulary, confidence, and clarity.</li><li>Categories span secondary school through to post-secondary levels, reaching students across Singapore schools.</li><li>Experiential learning trips are built into the programme to enrich participants' development.</li><li>The competition is partnered with the Speak Good English Movement and the MOE.</li></ul><p>For the latest PESA updates, visit facebook.com/YMCA.PESA or contact the PESA Secretariat at PESA@ymca.org.sg.
